The Mayans would have loved to see the eclipse. It should be a good show down on the beach of Playa del Carmen tonight, chances are high that it will start out as a blood red moon. Get a few beers at a tienda and find a place to sit, or better yet get down to Hotel Fusion, listen to some live music and enjoy the view.
That is the penumbral part that most people won't see right away. Since it will be high overhead, a lounger on the beach would be comfortable. Listen to the waves as they hit the beach. Smelling the salt air and looking at an orange, maybe reddish totally eclipsed moon I would add that this time of year It might feel good if you get chilled.
