How to be a beautiful christian woman

What is the deal with Christian beauty? Is it all about the heart or is how we look important? Do you find yourself wondering how to care for your body without being driven by solely external motivations such as weight loss and like… fitting into a smaller jeans size? We both can agree that our health is important but, why? And how do Christian beauty and health co-exist? The Word of God clearly states that our bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit.

How to Meet Beautiful Christian Women

Good Morning Lovely Friends,. I have always wanted to write blog posts about beauty, simply because I am such a girly girl at heart! I never thought beauty posts fit into my particular blogging niche, and yet… it totally does! It would have been so nice to have a godly and biblical perspective when it comes to beauty. I often see two extremes — girls who spend way too much time on the outward appearance and those who barely spend anytime on how they look.

I think both extremes are a poor testimony and a poor representation of Christ. The following tips are just the basics for every young woman. You may have heard some of them before, others are just basic things I have learned over the course of my teen years.

Before we get started, let me say one more thing… as a Christian young woman I think beauty is very important.

As a Christian young woman representing Christ, we need to do our best to look our best. Not for vanity or to draw undue attention to ourselves, but to take care of what God has given us and look our best for HIS honor and glory. Take Care of Your Skin. When I think of outward radiance… I think of someone with radiant skin. This is by far the most difficult part of beauty for me because I have had skin issues since my early teen years. Basic Skin Care Tips:. There is a lot more I could add to that list, but those are just three very basic and easy starters.

Get Your Exercise. I have been more intentional about my workouts this month and boy, do I ever feel so much better! Working out always gives my skin an added glow and gives me a boost of confidence. The more you exercise and workout, the more motivated you will be to take care of yourself in other ways.

Spending time getting fit is often just the motivation I need to clean up my diet and get my sleep. There are so many ways to exercise right from home. You will feel so much better as a result. Encouraging you to get your exercise may not seem like a beauty tip — but it IS. When you feel your best, you LOOK your best. Exercise will give you a glow, help you lose excess weight, and help give you confidence which is even better than external beauty!

Wear A Little Makeup in Moderation. When it comes to makeup, the goal is enhancement. Our goal as young women, should be to draw attention to our face, not our bodies. Dark smoky eyes, bright red lips, harsh black eyeliner, and other bold makeup trends are very worldly looks.

I typically wear a liquid liner as well. Again, the goal with makeup is to enhance what God has already given you… and to conceal any major blemishes or redness, etc. Feel free to leave your thoughts about makeup in the comments. Style Your Hair. My favorite is the verse that says God knows the number of hairs on my head. Anyways… all this to say. As a young woman, take care of your hair, which is your glory. Besides taking care of your beautiful head of hair, have fun styling it every now and then!

A couple years ago I invested in a curling wand that had three different attachments — one of my best purchases ever! Also, my curling wand set came with a flat iron but I prefer curling my hair over straightening it. If you are looking to buy a curling wand I would shop around for a better price!

I typically style my hair times a week, but I know the heat does make my hair a little dry so I try not to overdo it. Your hair is your glory…. Final Thoughts. Is your external appearance healthy, radiant, and beautiful in a meek and quiet way? But He also desires to have young women representing Him that are caring for, and properly adorning what He has already given them. This was not my typical blog post… but what are your thoughts? How do you feel about beauty, makeup, skin care… the whole shebang?

Such a great post, Rebekah!! I would love to see more of these posts! I have also heard other men make comments about how unnecessary they think make up is on young ladies. So I guess I will cross that bridge when I come to it!

Please do more posts like these! Thank you!! Makeup is definitely a personal issue and there are so many varying opinions and convictions concerning it.

I was not allowed to wear makeup until I was 16 — and then only in small amounts to start. I definitely agree that many people over use makeup. I am so thankful to hear that you are willing to submit to and honor your parents wishes. As for exercise, I totally agree with you there! I feel so much better when I am in shape!

Lately I have been playing racquetball with my parents, which is absolutely amazing exercise. Ditto on the makeup thoughts as well! I like playing around with different makeup looks, but am careful that I am not conforming to fads or going overboard.

I think a good standard for makeup is that you should NEVER look like a different person when it comes off!! Hey Mykaela, Me too! Thanks for reminding me that need to get a drink of water — right now!

Keep it up! I got engaged in February — I mentioned it in my March goals blog post! What an awesome post! I have never thought about caring for myself in that way. I thought your makeup tips were spot on. Some go overboard and it aggravates me because they are gorgeous without it. Yes… long hair can be a hassle at times! This was such a fun post! I think as Christian girls we have to learn to find the balance between the two extremes you mentioned.

I hope you like some of the products if you decide to give them a try! I think this post was a good idea, and I agreed with everything you said!

Also, I think a lot of this has to do with modesty. Because modesty is all about not drawing attention to myself, which doing crazy things with your hair and makeup is kind of drawing attention to yourself!

Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts! And goodness…pink hair would definitely be an attention grabber haha! I have actually been thinking about that already. They are really great and have given me some ideas. Thanks for mentioning it! I enjoyed reading your tips. But it is important to still take care of our bodies and represent Christ well.

Have you tried any natural hair products? I have a hard time keeping it long and healthy and am always looking for new tips. The Norwex cloth has been amazing — I highly recommend it!! For all natural hair products… I use Renpure for shampoo not super all natural but much better than most and I love using pure argan oil in my hair.

I thought this was a great post. The world forgets that. Thank you for this post a great reminder. I only wear homemade lipstick that is very subtle and not super noticeable. But the worldly trends are the man reason I hate makeup. Thanks for linking the video about curling your hair, and for the music warning ;D :D!!!

Thank you very much for giving us a nice article that spends your valuable time. Am pleased with the tips. I will actually share this article with my female friends.

A Christian perspective on beauty

We hope these characteristics and their accompanying verses help spur you on to be the kind of woman that God created you to be. So do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

Expand the message of Beautiful Orthodoxy to the church. I first picked up a copy of Today's Christian Woman years ago when I was a fairly new Christian and immediately ordered it because it was full of articles about how to become established in my faith, which is exactly what I needed.

We are to have transformed minds, renewed by thinking on God and His ways. Only then will discernment reign, and only then will our lives be marked by beauty. Defining beauty is like nailing Jell-O to a wall. However, modern denial of objectivity runs to an extreme.

5 Characteristics Of A Godly Woman

Here are ten questions, along with corresponding Bible passages, a Christian woman should ask herself before saying yes all Scripture quotations from the English Standard Version :. The righteous who walks in his integrity—blessed are his children after him! I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. But as for you, O man of God, flee these things. Pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, steadfastness, gentleness. Neither was man created for woman, but woman for man. That is why a wife ought to have a symbol of authority on her head, because of the angels. Nevertheless, in the Lord woman is not independent of man nor man of woman; for as woman was made from man, so man is now born of woman.

How to Be a Beautiful Christian Woman in an Appearance Obsessed World

There is no one in the world like you! An honest look at our humanness reveals this truth. We are chosen 1 Pet. We are unique Matt. The question is not whether or not these things are true , but whether or not this is the most important message women need to hear.

Several months ago I wrote a controversial blog post that went viral and picked up a lot of positive and negative attention.

This lesson looks at the attributes and qualities that make a woman beautiful as God intended she should be. The beauty of the human female is oft regarded as a physical matter, however any good artist knows that if you paint, draw, or photograph a woman purely to capture the physical form, the work will be a failure.
